Markus Lankers began studying chemistry at the University of Düsseldorf in 1986, graduating with a diploma in chemistry from the University of Würzburg in 1992. He then worked with Prof. Kiefer at the University of Würzburg as a doctoral student.

He received his doctorate in 1995 with the topic "Elastic and inelastic light scattering on optically trapped microparticles" with the distinction "summa cum laude". He started his career in industry began as a research assistant at Schering AG, where he worked from 1996 to 2001 in the Parent Development Department.

In 2002, together with Dr. Oliver Valet, he founded rap.ID Particle Sytems GmbH in Berlin, where he has been one of the two managing directors ever since. For the expansion of rap.ID GmbH's international business, rap.ID Inc. was founded in Princeton, USA, in 2013, and Dr. Lankers has been its president since then. Dr Markus Lankers has been the lead partner in collaborative projects with numerous national and international academic and industrial working groups. He continues to be an active member of the Parenteral Drug Association (PDA) and has been Chairman of the Visual Inspection Forum, a world-leading conference on particle control in pharmaceuticals, since 2001.

As the author of 44 scientific publications and more than 20 invitations to speak at national and international conferences, Dr. Lankers has a very good reputation among experts. He is also an inventor with 5 patents. He is a trainer in more than 40 courses on particle contamination control and passes on his business experience to young entrepreneurs as a coach for start-ups at the Technical University of Berlin.
